General Information
At University Preparatory Charter School, we are changing the narrative for young men in the City of Rochester.
UPREP is a public charter school where young men come every day prepared to learn and participate in their educational experience. They know the value of their time, their relationships and the importance of applying what they learn to meet their personal and academic goals.
UPREP faculty are dedicated to teaching male learners. Education methods engage students of all levels and address different learning styles. We work with every student to achieve his potential. UPREP means you leave prepared.
Services
Transportation
All students are transported on yellow school buses from their residential school district.
Uniforms
UPREP students in all grades 6-12 wear uniforms. This is a mandatory requirement and sets us apart as Griffin gentlemen. Students wear UPREP labeled polo-shirts, tee shirts, long-sleeved shirts and fleece shirts, with beige/tan khaki pants.
School Services
UPREP serves breakfast and lunch every day. We have a full-time Nurse on staff.
Instructional Models
UPREP’s instructional model is standards-based, student-centered and focuses on reflection, self-discovery, and active learning to promote critical thinking skills and deeper understanding of content. Our model is rigorous and we maintain an unwavering commitment to graduating young men with the necessary skills, knowledge, dispositions, and perseverance to attain success as they continue in their education, enter the workforce, and assume the challenges of adult citizenship in their community, nation, and the world.
Research-based best practices are employed to engage students, invigorate classrooms, and support inquiry-based learning for students and teachers. All instruction is planned and implemented using a consistent, research-based instructional framework across all grades and subject areas.
